Apart from Sohag, Green Line, and Eagle, buses of other transport companies ply on the route. Besides, one can go directly to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka by train or by bus via Chattogram.

Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar

Non-AC buses of Shyamoli, TR, Hanif, Unique, S Alam, and Saudia ply on Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route. If you want to go by AC bus, then there are Green Line, Saudia, Desh Travels, TR, Sohag, etc. It may take 12-14 hours to reach. Besides, St. Martin’s Transport has AC buses that run directly to Teknaf from Dhaka.

Also, there are direct bus services from Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, and Rangpur divisional cities to Cox’s Bazar.

How to go

To go to Saint Martin from anywhere in Bangladesh you need to go to Cox’s Bazar first. From Cox’s Bazar town, you will first ride a jeep to Teknaf, and from Teknaf, you will reach Saint Martin by ship or trawler. It takes two to two and a half hours to go to Saint Martin from Teknaf by trawler or ship.

Several long-distance vehicles leave Dhaka directly for Cox’s Bazar every day. Buses, taxis, or reserve microbus ply on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf route since morning. Keari Sindabad and Nafsi Hajaz ply every day from Teknaf to Saint Martin since morning. Along with these ships, trawlers also operate on this sea route. You can go in the desired vehicle. But Keari Sindabad and Nafsi ships are reliable as safe vessels. These ships take two hours to go from Teknaf to Saint Martin. On the other hand, these vessels leave Saint Martin every day at 3:00 pm. The sea is calm during the winter season and rough during the summer monsoon season, when navigation is risky.

Moheshkhali Island (Moheshkhali Island) is a hilly island in Cox’s Bazar district which is located in the sea, just 12 km west of Cox’s Bazar town. There are 3 islands named Sonadia, Matarbari, Dhalghata in Moheshkhali upazila with an area of about 362 square kilometers. Moheshkhali is the only hill island in Bangladesh. Adinath Fair is organized on this island every year in the month of Falgun. Among the attractions of Moheshkhali are – Sonadia Island, Adinath Temple, and Adinath Fair, Buddhist Kyang or temple, Rakhine neighborhood, Golden Temple, and Mainak Hill.

How to go

If you want to go to Moheshkhali, you have to go to Cox’s Bazar first. From Kalatali, Sugandha or Labani point, you will go to Jetty Ghat No. 6. From there, you will go to Moheshkhali Jetty No. 1 by speed boat. Besides, you can reach Moheshkhali in a short time by boat or launch. You can go to Moheshkhali every morning and afternoon from Bahar Chhara Ghat in Cox’s Bazar.  Moheshkhali can be reached in about an hour by trawler boat. If you have more time, you can also go to Sonadia Island by CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

Sonadia Island is one of the most well-known islands in this area and the best tourist attraction in visiting Cox’s Bazar, covering only nine square kilometers. It is 15 kilometers northwest of Cox Bazar. This area’s biodiversity and natural environment are still there.

How to go

From Maheshkhali Ghat, take a rickshaw to Gorakghata Bazar and from there to Ghatibhanga. From Ghatibhanga to Sonadia Island, you have to take an engine-powered boat. You will reach the island from Ghatibhanga only after crossing the Sonadia Channel by boat. Every day one trawler leaves Ghatibhanga during high tide. Everyone can reach Sonadia Island by speedboat directly from Cox’s Bazar.
